Richard finally heard today that he definitely has a place on the biomedical sciences PhD program at Wright State University. He applied back in June and we've been waiting all summer to find out what we are doing this fall. Luckily we already put our house on the market (hopeful thinking) because Richard starts in only two and a half weeks. We live close enough that he can commute but I really would like to move and be there so that we aren't dealing with all of that after he starts. I guess we'll have to see what we can find to live in. With that good news we decided we needed to go out and celebrate. We went to eat at Raising Canes and then we went for a walk in the rose gardens and a little play on the playground. We have enjoyed having nana and papaw stay with us for the past few years. One of the perks of having them here is days like this. They came along with us to celebrate and play. I'm very proud of Richard for going through with the application and for getting in but now the hard work is really ahead of us. We are probably crazy for doing this at this point in our lives but we know that we have been lead to this point and we are trying to follow what feels right. It's all a bit scary but I know that "everything will work out alright in the end and if it's not alright then we are not at the end" (one of Jeremy's taekwondo quotes). Ever since we realized we needed to make a change this year we have been saying something to this effect over and over to help us get through all of the uncertainty and change. It's been an amazing path that has led us to where we are and we are constantly amazed how one thing has led to another but it never leads to what we think it will lead us to. I don't know where we started but at one point we were looking at psychology programs and programs in England and masters programs. I was sure that we were going to spend an entire year applying and preparing to go somewhere but one thing led to another and we found this program that appears to be perfect for Richard.
