Richard Goes to England

So Richard needed to go to England on a last minute trip to attend his uncle's funeral. Richard enjoyed spending time with his brother and his family and his mum, the funeral was difficult but it was nice that he was able to be there for it- the trip there and back was a nightmare. We left the Grammer family vacation in Flushing, Ohio a day early so that he could catch a plane the next morning at 6:20. We got home from the vacation and he mowed the lawn and packed and was all ready. We went to sleep that night and we woke up the next morning at 6:20- he missed his flight. We quickly threw all the kids in the car and I dropped him off at the airport. He caught the next flight out that took him to Cleveland where he spent the entire day in the airport. He was supposed to fly to New York and then to England and arrive in England that same night. About the time that he was supposed to get on the red eye flight to England a storm came through and knocked out the electricity in the airport. His flight was delayed but he eventually did get on the airplane and he made it to England about midday the next day.

On the way home he made it fine the US but another storm came through while he was in Newark and they delayed his flight home and then they cancelled it. They told him since it was the fourth of July weekend they wouldn't be able to get him home for a couple of days. I was sitting at home with our van packed and ready to leave for the beach and our friends were here as well waiting for him to arrive so that we could leave in the morning. He tried to get on a flight to Norfolk, VA (the first stop on our trip to the beach) but that flight had a long waiting list because of other cancelled flights so he didn't make it on the flight but he did meet someone else who was trying to get to Norfolk so they teamed up and rented a car together and drove all night to meet us the next day in Norfolk. Richard had been up for more than 30 some hours so when he got to the hotel at 6 am they were so kind to let him check in early for the next night without charging him anything and he was well rested by the time we got there that afternoon. I was so happy to see Richard when we finally got there. Richard took a few pictures while in England so I included them here. I can't believe how big the boys are.
